A new look

It’s long overdue, but I think it’s time for my website to acquire a new look, together with a new feature: this blog. I wonder how long I’ll be able to keep going with it!

Earlier in the week I searched for a software package to replace my ageing Microsoft Expression Web suite. That had served its purpose but doesn’t have the ability to produce a responsive design needed for today’s mobile usage. I tried out this Xara Web Designer Premium and “played” with it a bit before deciding to bite the bullet and buy the full version. It seems to be doing the job quite well so far. I don’t seem to be able to delve into the code, as with Expression, but that’s probably not such a bad thing. A very good point is that Xara is fully WYSIWYG, something that the old software was not. The other great thing about Xara is that it’s British, in fact, better still… English!

At last! The basic of the new website have been completed, are functional and have finally been uploaded to take over from the old (by now rather clunky) website. This new site is also mobile friendly, which the old one was most certainly not. It’s taken longer than expected, due to other commitments and generally looking after customers, keeping the stock going and so forth. There’s still more tweaking to be done and the addition of the Raspberry Pi stuff I do along with any other random things…
